I went to the cinema in 2008 to see the movie, We Are Together, a documentary about The Agape Children’s Orphanage in South Africa. Most of the kids had lost their parents to the HIV/AIDS virus. Their orphanage was burnt down and they went to sing in the US in order to raise money to rebuild. The ability of the children to see past their pain and sing their way out of pain has stayed with me since then.
Sing
And when there is nothing left to do, sing
Sing for your words have power
Powerful, it heals
Powerful, it soothes the broken heart
Powerful, it makes the wounded whole
Powerful, it melts a heart of stone
Powerful, it breaks barriers and the unbreakable
Powerful, it pulls down boundaries
Powerful, it crosses enemy lines
Powerful, it makes a sad soul and a depressed spirit smile
Sing child
Sing for your words have power.
