What Are You Worth?

I have been asking myself all day what I wanted to write about today? I have material but for some reason, didn’t feel the hunger to use any of them. Then as always, picked up the phone and called my partner in crime and we were talking about our day.

While it was nothing dramatic or out of the norm, she asked a question that made so much sense, why are you stressing yourself? You are good and you know it. This was after I read an email someone sent me.

Someone had sent me an email that was upsetting. I read my response to my partner in crime and she agreed that was the right response. Funny, I didn’t rehearse my response or ask anyone’s opinion. Something inside me was just so sure I was right and so I was going to stand up for myself. It was not about my ego or being arrogant, just one of those days when you know full well that you are worth so much more and there comes  time when people have to realise they can only but push so far.

It reminded me of something, I have heard so many times, if you don’t know who you are, people will be happy to tell you? If you don’t know what to do with your time, people will help you waste or misuse it. If you don’t know your worth, people will be sure to tell you and don’t be surprised if they or their actions say you are nothing. It is because you did not set the bar to which they were to rise.

I don’t believe in being arrogant or having a puffy fake confidence. I believe you respect those around you and deal with them in the same manner you want others to relate and deal with you. But there comes a time when you must say to yourself, I Can Do Bad All My Myself and you take a stand, because you know you are worth so much more than what is being offered.

It is not what they call you, it is what you answer to.

“It is not what they call you, it is what you answer to.” I like that!!! Self-confident is what some people are lacking…

I can relate to this…and what you’ve written here is so true. My best part “…. If you don’t know your worth, people will be sure to tell you and don’t be surprised if they or their actions say you are nothing. It is because you did not set the bar to which they were to rise.

    Thanks for the reminder, Belinda.

Ogo, you are welcome. We have to remind ourselves and each other, and treat people right.
